Two Historic Gardens: Club Gifts to Our City

The Garden of Serenity sits quietly on a small plot of ground just west of.he Bethlehem Public Library. This authentic Japanese garden consists of a tea house and a hill-and-pond garden. A dedicated committee of the Bethlehem Garden Club has cared for this garden for many years, and since 1999 has helped in its renovation. The committee tends the garden weekly during the gardening season at the convenience of the volunteers.

The Miller’s House Garden blooms with antique roses, culinary and medicinal herbs, old-fashioned flowers and heirloom fruits and vegetables appropriate to 1870. Based on a Germanic four-square design, this award-winning period garden was researched, designed, planted and is continually maintained by Bethlehem Garden Club members. The site is located in the Colonial Industrial Quarter, near Monocacy Creek and the old Luckenbach grist mill and was dedicated in 1989.
