Ikebana, the Japanese art of flower arrangement, is a disciplined art form in which nature and humanity are brought together. Ikebana often emphasizes other areas of the plant than the bloom, such as its stems and leaves, and draws emphasis towards shape, line and form. An arrangement may consist of only a minimal number of blooms interspersed among stalks and leaves. (Click on photo to enlarge)

Horticulture and Design
Horticulture Tournament
Horticulture Tournaments are held five times throughout the year at Garden Club General Meetings. Members should check the yearbook each month for the published tournament schedule. You may enter for consideration any (or all!) of the plant material specified in the yearbook for the month. All specimens entered must have been grown in your own gardens or homes. National Garden Club accredited judges are invited to judge the exhibits. First place, Second place, Third place and Honorable Mention stickers are awarded. The purpose of a tournament is education and enjoyment for the exhibitors, members of the club and any visitors present at the meeting.
